Q-CAP was designed in Amsterdam by product designer and enthusiast photographer, Michael Jones.
It reliably protects the front element of the lens and provides an additional option to the owner to improve the aesthetics of the camera.
I noticed that the design of the existing lens cap did not really fit the aesthetic of the camera and thought I could at least for myself make an improved version.
The first prototypes were 3D printed from nylon. After a few iterations the design was improved and sent out to a company that specialises in small-medium runs of machined parts.
Q-CAP is manufactured in several countries around the world, dependent on the workload of the contract manufacturer. Their internal quality check ensures that all parts arrive to the same standard and finish.
All units are assembled by hand, here in Amsterdam by myself.
